Am looking for atutor to help my daughter with Higher Chemistry. Can anyone recommend one - we live near Rutherglen.

What is the going rate for tutors?

  • Don't know anyone specifically, but I'd recommend this website, A Plus Tutors, I advertise on there (not chemistry I'm afraid!), and they have quite a lot of tutors all over the place. You should be able to find someone suitable :)

I charge £20 an hour for Higher/Advanced Higher level tuition, I'd say that's around the going rate for most subjects.

Hi there, when my DD thought she could be doing with some extra maths tutoring i told her to ask in school for recommendations, ended up with her head of maths dept offering an hour a week or more when required, so might be worth while asking in school.
:pwould like to make it known it is not a DHN, she's dancing :p

If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.:A

I also got a teacher from my son's school they charged me £20 per hour.
  • I'm an English tutor in Ediburgh, going rate is around £20 an hour, depending on travelling distance, or if the student can come to me.

Would recommend www.firsttutors.co.uk as well, or going through a reputable agency.

I must be being ripped off or as usual Aberdeen is way too expensive, I asked at school and got retired head of maths at £28 an hour.
  • When my son was in Fifth & Sixth Year at school (he is now in his first year at an English University) a few of my friends asked if he would tutor their kids in English, Maths and Chemistry and when he agreed they paid him £10 per hour. The feedback they gave was that he explained it very well in a way that their kids could relate to.
