Recommendations for Hair/Make up - North East/Tyne & Wear

Hello everyone,

I was wondering whether anyone can recommend a good make up artist or hair dresser in the north east. I've found a few through google, but one i have contacted wants £150 deposit , and is going to charge about £76 for travel to my venue and i don't know if she's any good. I would rather find people through personal recommendation, and i don't mind saving up for it, just want someone who won't make me look like sally ann!!

Thank you in advance, :)

Hey foofighter, haven't been to metrocentre yet but i've found... (oh i'm not associated with any of these and don't know what they are like - this is just thanks to google!)

    as one beauty in newcastle,
Jane bolam - make up artist
    Amanda Williamson - Hair
Kate Pymm - Hair & Make up

Again, i'd rather have some recommendations as these are quite expensive (not v. MSE) and i want people who i know do a good job before forking out deposits!! :)

Wow, miss_w, that's an amazing price, could you pm her contact details and i'll see if she'll travel up to newcastle, i expect even with extra travel costs that's still really a good price! :T

I'm at a wedding fayre today at my venue so i'll see if there is anyone there and i'll post my findings! :)

I did my own, nothing worse than not looking like yourself when you get married.!!
  • I'm having kay mcdonald to do my hair and make up she charges £25 for hair and £25 for makeup

so £50 in total for the day which i thought was really good

don't think she has a site but shes on facebook http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/pages/Princess-wedding-hair-makeup/141897289167504

hopefully thats a working link lol i'm rubbish at them she was one of the more professional sounding people i spoke to and tbh the price made me book it

  • Thanks for the link poppy I will check her out :) Gj thanks for the names! There was a north east make-up and beauty forum sometime ago that had a few local people on it but I just can't find it now, not even in my faves! I don't really have many people to ask as most people I know did there own make-up. I might end up going with my own hairdresser but having someone else for my make-up. I'm so behind
