Amazons Posting Policy

Could someone please explain Amazons posting policy.
First of all, on all three cases I selected free delivery.
1. I ordered a sat nav which cost over £100. It was sent via Royal Mail, ordinary post. No signature, no tracking. I was a bit miffed by this, the sat nav could have gone walkies, but it didn’t.
2. Next I ordered Heartbeat on DVD. I ordered this on pre-release. This was just a 2 disc boxset. Came by Home Delivery Network. DVD cost £14.00
3. Then this Tuesday I ordered the new Wallace & Gromit 2011 calendar. This has been sent by Royal Mail, tracking. Yes folks a £5.00 calendar sent by tracking.:exclamati
I just can’t make head or tail of this at all. I thought items of value would be sent via tracking, and heavy items via Home Delivery Network.
Could anyone shed any light on this, or has anyone else and similar experiences.
Or anyone from Amazon could explain their posting policy, please

you probably purchased in the amazon "marketplace". Therefore your 3 purchases were despatched by separate companies each with different shipping policies.0

No, Anmazon use different services depending on where the items are held basically.
As for the tracking, it is a new service just for businesses which costs them virtually the same as standard mail and is technically 'tracked' but not signed for.
I ordered a £4 annual from them last week and it turned up like that.
Don't forget businesses have different arrangements for losses in the post, so they don't always bother with full tracking as they ship so much they cna afford to write off some losses.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
