Comet Clearance Website

Has anyone used the Comet Clearance Auction Website as I registered last night while looking for a tumble dryer cheap and was just about to bid when I realised that the registration confirmation email cam back from a tiscali e-mail address not a comet.com address?

Anyone know if this is legit or a scam?

(Don't want to post the url for obvious reasons)

It surprises me that it doesn't take you to a secured login when you try and sign in i.e. it's http as opposed to https. That always makes me suspicious.

    EDIT - seems legit

  • My mum won a cooker and save just under £200 ON RRP. She got a confirmation of delivery in the post and it was a comet headed envelope.

It is legit. It's not unusual (though very bad practice) for a company website not to take you to the secure area; it's happened to me before with other sites. You can force it to take you to the secure site (if it exists) by simply typing in an 's' after 'http'.
  • Sorry to the rest of forums, but I think that this website needs bumping up the forum.

    I won a 38" widescreen, virtual Dolby 100htz TV for £400:D
No stand - didn't need one
No manual - went online & downloaded it.

Happy days, for about a week then it broke down. Noworries Comet collected it, fixed it & returned.
Broke down again (all within the first 3 weeks), Comet sent an Engineer & he fixed it there & then.
    Still working 3years later:T

Now looking for a condensing tumble dryer for my new flat when I move.
It's just like eBay, but better. I can't believe more retailers don't do it
    Happy days.
