in Cutting tax
basically partner is now non existent as tax and NI number have had the name and addresss changed
Tax office are aware of this and have been for a while, but today received working tax credit notification and low and behold i now have a new partner, the thing is partners notification has been sent to god knows where and included on that are my details.
where do i go for help, the tax office are of no help at all. Have not had any thing from them to explain what has happend or what they are doing about it. This has affected tax returns, vat and now tax credit.
by the way, inland revenue have recomended through the accountant that we carry on paying our tax bill- even though one has not been received- as it will not not be affected by this mess, what a joke

Its a bit difficult to tell what has happened from your post, but as you have an accountant, I would suggest he speaks to HMRC as only they can alter their records.0

Thanks gertie, he has been in touch with HMRC, you would think that it would be easy just to change your name back, but no, it has to be investigated, if they had done this in the first place perhaps he wouldnt be in this position. It has been noted that he would like some kind of corespondence from them to say that this is being delt with, how, why and when this could of happend, but nothing as yet.
I am angry that these details are now showing on my working tax credit forms, this has changed since HMRC were made aware. so it seems that they have not done anything to sort this out yet.
I am now worried as to what else this is going to affect.
I phoned the working tax credit helpline today and spent 45 mins (on an 084) trying to get this sorted with them, they could not see how or why this change of name took place, once again it has to go to another department to be investigated.
It seems all we can do is wait.
I know this type of tax scam was highlited last week on tv and they were all sent to jail, so HMRC have known about this type of scam for a long time as i think this one was about 2007, but it is still going on and they dont seem to be doing anything to help the people it is happening to. I wanted to know if anyone else is/was experiencing the same type of situation and if so what did/are they doing. we feel so useless, just a simple letter of explaination and reasurance from HMRC that this will be sorted would bring some relief to all this stress, but then they could of already sent one to the fictitious address.0
