So sorry I've not been back on to update, bit of a nightmare yesterday and then no internet last night.
Mum phoned as soon as they opened, long story short when she called them a few weeks ago to see if she would possible be entitled to rate relief the person she spoke to closed that account, opened another for her alone and backdated payments since Dad died.
After speaking to a few different people she was then put through to a manager who cleared the matter up within minutes, was able to see there are no arrears on the account, never a missed payment and apologised profusely.
Thank god its all sorted but I wonder do some people (albeit a mistake) not realise what kind of terror and heartache they cause. Don't even get me started about the ESA people and me!!!!:rotfl:
Many thanks for all you help xxx0 -

To be fair though, the person she was speaking to originally did what they were supposed to do and they did it correctly, I understand the upset and I sympathise, but I think it unfair to blame the staff. This is exactly the situation I described below
Glad it was sorted

This would be the same Land and Property Services who have managed to get my surname completely wrong on my new rates bill, despite me completing a form on their own website with my surname on it, and who have sent me a form for my old house being vacant, when I told them on their own website that the house had actually been sold. They are utterly useless, almost on a par with HMRC.0

Was the form for the house being vacant addressed to the occupier, if so it's computer generated and as soon as any periods of vacancies appear on the system is automatically sent out.
In regards to the name being spelt wrong, yes human error happens. However if you pay your rates it'll always remain spelt wrong, it's only when you stop paying and they want the money will it be changed :rotfl:0 -

Human error, as in being completely unable to copy the letters which are written down in front of you? ;-)
And no, the form wasn't addressed to the occupier - it was actually addressed to me.0 -
