I don't have the contract available to me and I'm not even sure I kept it with the very few belongings that i didn't sell and put into storage.0

How long ago was the sale? If it's recent, your solicitor might still have a copy of any contract.
It's really difficult to say "yes, you owe them the money" or "no, you don't" without knowing exactly what the agreement was when you signed them up to sell your house. There's all kinds of fine print in there about not using other agents or private sales and we need to know what exactly you agreed to by signing that.0 -
Maybe I should seek some professional legal advice back in the UK to help sort this situation out remotely?
I'm guessing this might just incur even more costs if indeed I am forced to pay this ridiculous claim. Any good ideas on who would be good use or maybe other places I could get help?
