Returning to the uk - claiming benefits

We are about to return to the uk as we have no work and no income except a very small personal uk pension. We have lived in Spain for 4 years we came over to pursue a business opportunity. We were importing products manufactured in the uk. The global recession has hit us hard and now we cant fight anymore. We have no jobs or home in the uk. We need to know what benefits are available. My husband worked in the uk for 40 years and paid up all his stamps. I have tried doing the ready reckoner but as we have no rented accommodation yet it is difficult to get a true figure.
Is there any one who can give us some help and advice please ?:(

Maybe something here... http://britishexpats.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=61
Or otherwise the HMRC website.0 -
Before being able to claim any UK benefits you'll have to pass the Habitual Residency Test. If you pass this, any means tested benefits will be affected if you own a property abroad.0
