Door curtain question

This year I fancy having a nice thick door curtain at the front door. We've got double glazing, so not so much to keep the heat in, more for a feeling of coziness(sp). Not sure how to go about it though, cos either side of my door is a window, so I need those covering as well, so if I get one big curtain that covers windows and door, how do I get my front door open? IYSWIM?
Will post a piccie later if I get chance so you can see what I mean, and sorry if it's a silly question, but I just can't get my head around it.

Would a curtain on each side of the door work?
Have you considered a portiere rod?0 -
What about one of these for the actual door

and ordinary curtain poles for the windows eitherside?0 -
See Jim Lawrence below.

does made to measure poles and portieres.
I'm getting a portiere for my front door - just got to get round to measuring and ordering it."You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
I have a double glazed door with a window on one side. I put up a curtain rod over the whole lot and draw it at night, if I need to open the door, I just draw the curtain to one side, easy, then draw it back to cover the door. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0

Maybe a silly question but can you use portieres with Upvc doors?? Not sure how you would attached the "bits".
The double glazing in our house was put in in the 80's so if next to useless. I was thinking of just putting a curtain pole up but there is some pipework in the way so if a portiere can be fix it would be the ideal solution.0 -

Thanks for that Ruby Pudding :T - I have been trying to work out how to put a door curtain up without it getting in the way. I had never heard of portiere rods. All I need now are the curtains!:j:j Every day in every way, learning to money save:j0 -
Thanks for you replies, however I'm with shell2001 in not knowing if it's possible to use one with upvc doors. Wondered if there was a special product to use or a different way of attaching it that's meant for plastic doors?
May possibly have to go with the idea of having one curtain and dawing it to the side to open the door.0 -
Does anyone know if you can get these for PVC doors??0
