What am i looking for? (type of mortgage)

I'm buying another property to move into, but i'm confused as to what i am with regards to mortgage comparison sites etc.
I already have a mortgage, so not FTB, i'm not remortgageing.

Just a normal purchase mortgage.
There is little if any difference anyway these days.0 -
Without wanting to sound mean, I think what you should be looking for is a mortgage advisor.
At this stage (at least) make sure it is one who doesn't charge a fee.
Preferable if it is whole of market. But if you can't find one of those then just go to any mortgage advisor (e.g. in an estate agents), but remember to take anything they tell you with a pinch of salt.
Once you've spoken to them you should have a better idea of what you are looking for and can come away and do your own research...0 -

Well MoneySupermarket lists
FTB
Remortgage
Moving House
Buy to Let
Self Build
RTB
Equity Release
I don't seem to "fit" into any of these boxes. Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.

I guess you'd be FTB in terms of the search facility. In that you are looking for a new mortgae for a new property. You'd need to declare at some point that you're not a FTB but at least you would be presented with options that will apply to your circumstances.0

Yep, i totally agree, and i fully intend to do so, but just trying to do a bit of research first, but as i said, not easy when you don't fit into the boxes. Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.

I would say you fit perfectly into the 'moving house' category0

Moving House may give you the correct results, as that will usually be for new purchases for people who already have a mortgage. Probably won't matter if you are selling your house or not. FTB may give you deals that are only available to First Time Buyers.0

We were not FTBG as we sold out house 2 years ago. We were classed as 'moving home' for mortgage companies. We had nothing to sell, we were just buying.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

What makes this different from a common "moving home" mortgage application?0

I had just assumed, that as we weren't selling our other property, and are not FTB, that "moving home" wasn't us.Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.
