Buy a car for £300 - £400. I've had many cheap cars that have proven reliable.
Join the RAC or similar.
Third party insurance in your name and drive safely to build up NCB.You could have 50% by the time you're 21 when you could hopefully afford a flashier car.

Why not take out the student loan if you haven't already to finance your car thats what I did but had a little extra which I was able to put towards my car.
If you really want to spend £4000 on a car ask your parents to get a loan for you and you can be the second person on the loan ( joint loan ) and repayments can come out your account. This would be the easiest option if your parents are happy for you to spend that amount on your first car.0 -
if you cant keep up the payments on a mobile phone.. how are you expecting to pay for a 4k loan?0
