Advice on Rechargeable Carpet Sweepers Please

Have seen these on shopping channels and they look great - seem to almost move on their own.
I have ME/CFS and find hoovering too much - usually wait for either son or hubby (who is also ill) to get round to it - or not.
This looked a good compromise (not as good as hoovering but better than nothing!) - but wondered if they actually were lightweight and easy to manage - or was it just a question of looking good on screen. They are also sold in Argos.

i have the ones from thane direct that are light weight and the heads swivel. they are brilliant ,all my floors are wooden so im not sure if they would do as well on carpet though.

  • I have a normal (manual) carpet sweeper and it works very well. Really depends on if it is just for a "top-up" vacuum or proper house clean. I would not use it to do the normal vacuuming. Have you seen the Dyson City Vac, it is meant to be lightweight

I am sure you could get it cheaper than that, and I have not seen it or used one, but it is meant to be very light.

Thanks for replies - sorry but the Dysons way too expensive - but sure they're great.
I used to get the cheap £25 small ones but hubby liked bigger more powerful ones - but if no-one is using whats the point!
Yes I've seen them on Than too Chrissy - they do look good - saw one picking up broken glass the other day - but we've not got much money to waste these days!

  • I have had about 3 rechargeable sweepers during the last few years, similar to the one in argos, would not be without it as good for quick pick ups as we have lots of birds which equals lots of chewed paper, seeds, wood etc, they don't pick up their little white downy feathers but are good to get the worst up, they could never replace the vacuum but do like them, though they have a tendancy to spit out fluff even though dustpan not full, would like one that was a bit longer lasting so will have a look at the Thane ones, very easy to push and lightweight!
