Pre-employment credit check - IT contractor - Financial Services

Hello all,

I'm working in financial services as a permanent employee and I'm thinking about going contracting.

Does anyone have (or can refer me to) any information regarding the vetting procedures for IT contractors, particularly in financial services.

Thanks in advance,

li0ness

  • Hello,

From my recent experience most financial organisations (registered with the FSA) and more so recently senior posts on the private sector positions with budgetary requirements require the following.

    Identity check
    Residential check
    Disclosure Scotland
Bankruptcy, CCJ, Default and IVA check

These checks are normally done via a 3rd party security agency. I recently passed all of these to gain my current contract however due to my business failing I owe a substantial amount to HMRC which shortly will require me to either go BR or into an IVA. The later is less frowned upon in financial organisations but they still don’t like them.

PM me if you want to speak further
