Mortgage lenders in some countries quote lower rates that are only available to individuals who reside at the home they own or will own. I'm not sure if this is the case in the UK, but if so, then any commercial use of the property automatically disqualifies owners from getting the lower rate. E.g. if you were to later move out and rent the property out to someone, the property would be "commercial" and the mortgage would need to be converted to accommodate a "commercial" mortgage -- which translates into higher interest. If this is true in the UK, your lender may be looking for a reason to screw you on the interest rate.
One defense may be to get a free or cheap mailing address from an online post provider. This is not the same as the virtual office you're talking about. Virtual offices will go as far as to act as "domiciliary agents" for the company -- where the seat of the company can be officially registered. An online postal provider will not act as a domiciliary agent, and you cannot register your company there, but you can use one of these providers for your corporate mailing address -- which may be all you need to fool whoever might be causing you problems.
BTW, I would normally post a link to a comparison table of several online post offices -- but as a new user, I cannot post links. I can say that UKpostbox is one that will give you a free mailbox with an address in Dorset.0
