Fredrikson International - Grrrrr

Good Morning everyone,
Sorry to be a pain as i have asked many questions about this DCA, however background is....
Owed Egg £6000 on a cc, cca'd them and received a my cca, but before i could arrange a repayment plan with them they passed my debt on to Fredrickson. I have since agreed a F&F with Fredrikson over the phone for £3618, however, i have asked them to send a confirmation letter before i pay them any money, which they have failed to do, they just keep sending me the generic "this debt wont go away - you must pay us now" letter. I am sick of chasing them now to be honest.
Anywoo, husband now wants me to cca request them. Can i do this if i have already got the cca from egg? husband thinks it will prove that they definately own the debt.
Anyone got any suggestions as to what i should do? im so bloody confused!!

Thanks in advance guys
Lynds

You can CCA them if you wish.

Not sure what it would achieve though?

Fredricksons will surely just obtain the same documents you've already had from Egg, or ask Egg to send them to you again?

I suppose it might at a push concentrate their minds enough to look at your account ,rather than just sending automated threat/demand letters? But I wouldn't like to place money on it.

Maybe combine the 2 if you really want to? Request for the F&F offer in writing and request for the CCA at the same time?

Personally, I would probably keep my £1.

Even if Frederickson's don't own the debt they will ask Egg for the CCA, so that won't really get you anywhere.
Send the F&F offer in writing, the goon you spoke to on the phone probably "forgot" to send out the letter or make any reference to it on your file.
Make sure you use the correct wording, NDL template is very good.

    Hi Lynds

If you already have the CCA from Egg then this will achieve nothing.

If you want to find out if Fredrickson have purchased the debt from Egg then the best route to go down is to send them a Subject Access Request. This will cost you £10 and they will then have 40 days to respond.

The reason why Fredrickson are not prepared to confirm the F&F offer in writing is they want you to pay the £3618 and then either pursue you for the balance or sell it onto another DCA!

So you are definately doing the right thing by not paying a penny until you have a F&F offer in writing.

If you want to apply pressure on them you could write stating that you are disappointed you have not had written confirmation of the F&F offer agreed over the phone, that the funds you have available to you to pay this are available for a limited time only, and if they do not respond within a certain timeframe (e.g 14 days) then this facility will be withdrawn to them and be offered to one of your other creditors (words to that effect).

    thanks for your replies guys
i did infact send out a properly worded F&F letter using that template but i never got any reply, however, i was getting phonecalls all day everyday asking me to ring Fredrickson on 02.......
(very annoying - why cant they just phone me personally)
so in the end i cracked and phoned them and they completely dismissed my letter saying "what can you afford to offer?" i said £3600 but not paying until you send me a letter. They said one would be send out that same day so i could pay by the end of the week. it has now been a whole week with the only letter being "YOU OWE US £6021 - YOU MUST PAY IMMEDIATELY" BLAH BLAH BLAH
they are a bunch of frickin goons!!

    Hi Lynds

Yep FI are a bunch of *****. I had a few letters from them and in the end i sent a stop harassing me letter. Lo and behold a week later they wrote saying they would not contact me again and that was the last i heard from them. I just carried on paying £1 to the original creditor anyway and if they decided to give it to fredericksons that is up to them. As snv says SAR them or if you want to save your ten quid write to them and ask for proof that the debt has been sold to them etc etc and otherwise they can get stuffed. Don't give any money to FI and certainly don't phone them again.

    Good luck

No No No No No and NO!

Don't phone them. Ever. The reason they've not accepted your F&F offer is because
    1) They want more despite buying the debt for 20p in the pound.
    2) They think they can get more by pestering you with phone calls.

Your phone call convinced them of number 2 so they'll keep going around and around and around until you offer the full amount. Plus their charges. Plus the admin fee. Plus the interest... Oh and the VAT @ 20%.

Send out the letter refusing to deal with them over the phone any more (there's a template somewhere). ALSO add the F&F letter (again) with your original amount. Send two copies recorded delivery from different post offices if you want to make sure. If they question why you offered more on the phone say they're too late and some has already been allocated to other creditors. All that's left is the original offer. If they phone just hang up. Don't, don't, don't call them again.

Stick with this and they will respond eventually. When they do, be absolutely sure they've got ALL the words in you need. Just a "we will not pursue you for the rest" is not enough. What that means is we'll sell on the rest for 10p in the pound to the next bunch of cowboys who'll start the process all over again.

These people rely on wearing you down, grinding you into the floor until they've squeezed every last possible drop of blood and sweat out of you. Don't weaken now when you could get them to agree with your F&F and be rid of them forever.
  • hi never been on this site before, found it completly by accident.
What's happened is I have had 3 txt messages from Fredrikson's instructing me to phone them. I have done as i did not know who they are or what they wanted. Still dont, as all they would tell me it was business, they wanted all my personnel information and i refused until they told who they where and what they wanted.
After looking this up on the internet i find they are a debt collection company. Now as far as i know i dont owe any debt out of the ordinary. What happens next.
