I'm sure it was about £23.49 when we bought it.

Yes I was undecided whether to get one or not at the time.
MAKRO did the JML one (as per Argos link) a few months back - 30th June-13th July 2010
- on a "special" at (as you say) £23.49 (£19.99 +VAT)
I originally WAS going to get one until someone pointed out the  NUMEROUS BAD  reviews (on Amazon ?) regards failures and rust etc. etc.
so I changed my mind and didn't bother - despite the price being about £15 or £20 cheaper than it had EVER been on offer anywhere ever before.
Having said that I did buy a Halogen cooker like this about a week ago from COSTCO.
It was on offer at £29.99 (+VAT) but came with a FREE (£9.95 to buy separately) EXTENDER RING - a stainless steel hoop - that increases that 12 litre capacity by a CLAIMED 15% (yeh right - :rotfl: )
Someone either misheard on the phone or their mathmatical genius is a DUNCE !
15% ? NO ! 50% YES:j
Bowl is 15cm deep and is slightly \__/ shaped (and IS 12 litres in volume)
Ring increases the height by a full 7cm and for the maximum diameter of the bowl

It is the VISICOOK from TEAM INTERNATIONAL >>> http://www.teamuki.com
4th item down on this page >>> http://www.teamuki.com/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_In_the_kitchen_with_Team_8.html
RRP = £59.99 (+vat I think)
On the day that I bought it there was an "extra special" cashback offer (it actually spanned about a week) and I got £4 off at the till - so £25.99 + vat = £30.53
This EXACT MODEL is what is used by the Costco In-House hot food demonstration team.
I asked the demonstrators about usage, reliability etc. etc. and everyone gave a thumbs up !
Indeed most of them had got their own one at home and couldn't fault it.
Given COSTCO's reputation for refunding/replacing of faulty goods I thought it was definitely worth the risk

We bought the jml from argos a few months back as cooker had decided to die, was reduced to 45 then, i swear by it now wouldnt be without it, cooks grills frys and defrosts, and the roast potatoes are gorgeous. I even took handle of frying pan and do fried eggs in it which come out nice and soft and fluffy. I wouldnt hesitate to purchase a halogen you will never go back.
ps they also use 50% less electric and cook at lower temps in a shorter time. i love halogen:DMy poor 15 yr old daughter broke her wrist i 5:eek: places tonight poor little mite was screaming in agony, all casted temp now and fingers crossed no surgery needed to fix.
get well soon honey .0 -
We just got the Prolectrix 7 litre one from Makro yesterday for £23.49 - haven't used it yet, but have to admit we went for that one because the others are just plain too big to store and we are down to just the two of us on a lot of evenings now. I hear it is hard to cook a double crust pie in them, any hints? What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
