Do they still pay JSA by Giro?

Or do you need to have a bank account in order to get the money?

TIA

Yes, they can pay by giro until you get your account sorted, but they prefer bank accounts. They're less expensive to administer & more secure than giros.
I no longer contribute to the Benefits & Tax Credits forum.

You can still be paid by Giro for the time being however be prepared to be given the hard sell on having your benefit paid into either a bank account or post office account. Giro payments will eventually be phased out as they are expensive to administer and every jobcentre has been tasked with reducing the number of payments by giro.
Don't forget to receive jobseekers allowance you have to be actively seeking work. Many employers will require you to have your salary paid into a bank account so by not having a bank or post office account you might be deemed to be putting yourself at a disadvantage when jobhunting so be prepared for possible DMA action.
