I wanna buy an air purifier - do they work?

My colleague has told me that she has an air purifier which sucks in air from a room and dust particles are trapped in a tub of water. She says the air is cleaner and there is less dust in the room. Having just had a lot of plastering done my house is full of dust and this seemed a good idea to get control of the dirt. Does anyone have one? Do they work? Can anyone reccommend one?

Somebody asked a similar question last week.
Amazon have one for £48 including delivery. The best thing to do is read the reviews and take it from there.
