Doesn't that only apply to pregnant women to attend ante-natal appointments?Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £19,575.020 -

Correct. Pregnant ladies are entitled to time off work (paid) to attend pregnancy related appointments.0 -
I agree with the others, explain your circumstances at work and being in a office it's often allowed to work around. Most bosses understand that with certain things you have no choice in the time of appointments. They will already be aware that you make other usual appointments out of office hours where you can (if they are not aware you can tell them that).
I try to make dentist appointments for first thing in the morning and doctor appointments for after work hours. That way if something unusual occurs my employer knows that it's unusual and is happy to accommodate.
If I was to have a hospital appointment such as outpatients where they tell you to turn up at 9am and you could be there all morning though I would book half a day off for it.
It is always worth asking your boss but I wouldn't take sick leave for it, my thoughts on that are if you take a sickie then sod's law dictates you will then come down with something genuine.0 -
Where i used to work we had 15 hours per year for appointments, but like previous posters have said you have no right to time off for appointments. When my appointment time ran out i used spare holiday days as some appointments i needed to take a full day off, and because payroll werent very good at half days i took the whole day.0

If the appointment is only for a blood test and not seeing anyone would you be able to get the forms and have them taken and sent off from elsewhere at a re suitable time for work?
Admittedly I work in a hospital but GP is happy to just give me the forms and I get a colleague to take them, and I've known people have their hospital requested bloods taken at the GP and so on0
