Anyone been to Studio 22 for a family portrait?

Hi

I was thinking about getting my mum a voucher for Venture as part of her Christmas present as she has always wanted a family portrait. I've heard some bad things about how they try to get you to spend a small fortune on larger photos etc so am a little wary. Last night in Sainsburys I seen an advertising board for Studio 22 which seems quite similar. Has anyone any experience of this company?

Many thanks!

AFAIK, Studio 22 (ballymena?) is formed from ex-Venture employees. I had talked to them ages ago when they were setting up shop about jobs.
  • Studio 22 did some pics for us about a year and a half ago, family bought us a sitting as a christening pressie. Pictures and photographer were very good and a lot cheaper than Venture.
We had something similar done by venture previously (bought a voucher at the ideal home exhibition for a sitting and 1 free print) and although their pictures were ok we couldn't afford any other prints.
At studio 22 the owner did us a deal on the prints so we got 4 for the price of 3 and still cheaper than 1 equivalent one from venture.
IIRC the owner was part of the original partners that set up Venture here and he left it as he thought they were pricing themselves out of the market.

^^^Thank you, I knew there was a Venture connection, couldn't remember exactly what!
  • May be worth trying photography by Emma Jane. She used to work for Opus going round the schools and is BRILLIANT. She done an open night in our school for family portraits, and we got two done and are really pleased with them. She has just recently set up on her own. Here is a link to her page

we have used pixifoto on bangor twice now and think they are very good - and are a fraction of the cost of studio 22 and venture.

    Hi

Not specific to the shop you mention just in general be wary of buying vouchers as gifts, if a firm goes bust your money is lost (Woolies, Barratts, Faith, Zavvi etc etc), for the same reason don't hang on to credit notes for too long.
