Just if anyone has, I'd appreciate any info you've had. I have wooden framed windows, and am thinking about replacing next year as one of the frames is starting to rot (house is 1930's, and I assume the frames are of a similar age).
I'd be interested in how you went about it, how much you can claim, and any pitfalls you've come across.
Cheers.

If you own the house I would imagine it's your responsibility. There are grants available for insulation and renewable energies and HE grants to sort out things like outside toilets (had a chat with them at the Balmoral Show) but if it's replacement windows I would say that's a maintenance issue. Give them a ring though, you never know. One thing I know for sure, it will be means tested if it exists.
If you do get money let me know!Stercus accidit0 -
I know it used to be the case the Environmental Health would inspect the property, and if they condemned the windows, you could then apply for a grant from HE. The only stipulation was that the work had to be completed and passed within 6 months of the condemnation. No idea what percentage that grant was of the total cost though.
If the same process exists, then you may need to have a chunk of cash available to meet the rest of the cost.
If I ever do get anything...I'll let you know :cool:0
