Makro - Personal expenses

Hi,

I have a Makro trade card. But I went and bought some personal stuff using the Makro card. First, is this ok?

I got a receipt from Makro with no VAT on it. It worried me. Does this mean the VAT man will be chasing me about this? How does this work?

Am I allowed to buy personal stuff without VAT? I didnt think I could.

Please someone help...I am not able to find any info on the internet about buying personal stuff using a trade card.

TIA
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

    copied from some government website:

There are some goods on which you don't pay any VAT, like:
    • most food items
    • books, newspapers and magazines
    • children's clothes
    • some goods provided in special circumstances - for example, equipment for disabled people

You can buy personal stuff with a trade card, you aren't supposed to claim vat back on it though.
