Shopping at Asda I noticed that they are still offering the Bass Premium ale (4.4%ABV) bottle for £1.00
Also at Netto quite a mixture of bottled beers all for 99p.
Also i remember Magners £1.69, however if cider is just cider a similar bottled
cider with the same ABV i.e 4.5% called Old Moor is 99p.
As seen at the stores in Chadderton, Oldham.

Northerners can get a choice of bottled beers for 90 - 99p from their local Booths. Usually a choice of about 10, changed regularly. My views are irrelevant - censorship is alive & well!0

I mentioned this in a thread I started in the Shop but don't drop forum on Decent Beer at Decent Prices:

I thought it would be a good place for people to post finds of this sort. The one problem is that the only finds that people can usefully post are those at the big national stores. This undermines the importance of supporting local independent merchants. For example an independent wine merchant in Seaton sells Bass Export Pale Ale, 5.1% abv, 354ml, for 55p a bottle. However, apart from the fact that it's not very nice, there's no point in posting the bargain, as it will only be relevant to a tiny fraction of readers of a thread.

Not sure if it is just our local ASDA but when I was in there the other day they had absolutely shelves full of Magners in cans.
Now I've drunk the stuff and it's tolerable, but I don't think it's personally that nice, I think it came out with a bit of a furore but the hype has died down now, so I'm expecting to see the cans reduced in the not too distant future as the stuff is greatly over-priced at the moment.0 -
I think the only reason magners took of, and I have never tasted it, is that it is considered trendy to put ice in it. now who on earth would ordwer a pint of Strongbow with ice please? The colder the drink, or food, the less you can taste it.
And that is why I admire homeless people who can drink 9% tramps lager, luke warm, without being sick.S!!!!horpe0 -

Agreed... it's another trend thing... Magner's isn't even that nice IMHO...
Give me a nice bottle of Aspalls or Dunkertons cider any time. Waitrose ususally has an excellent selection of bottled ciders... not cheap though, but definitely worth the bit extra.Ah! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.0 -
Morrisons have a special offer on a range of ciders at £1.59 per bottle or 4 for £5. I've tried a few of them and they are pretty good!0
