If a balliff (council appointed one that is) slapped a notice on my car, i'd write to them advising that i'm the registered owner of the vehicle, but not the owner.. then i'd find that crumpled bit of paper which is receipt for when i sold the car to my mum/dad/uncle/brother/shop keeper/kebab shop owner, and as long as they say they own the vehicle and have that crumpled up receipt which looks old, then you should be OK..

Why say this ? Because this is how my partner has kept her car when we bought it, receipt to mum, registered owner to her (despite knowing the truth....)
Not sure if it helps, but i know its a tough call when it comes to council appointed balliffs, real hard asses

i'm the registered owner of the vehicle
that should have read...'registered keeper'No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
hehe, brain is in monday mode!
Yup, she's the registered keeper with name on the V5, but owner, by way of receipt is her mums...... and a receipt can be anything with 2 signitures on

That would also be fraud and it is not helpful to advise the OP to do something like that without notifying them of the consequencesHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

Iv been to CAB today and they called the council to make a payment arrangement for now to stop the cars being taken I then went to my local court and got the Bankrupcy papers which look very confusing but i sure once we get going hopefully we might manage them, we are going to sell one of the cars to fund the bankrupcy as we need to get it done and dusted and its just a case of walk in pay the money and then we get a ref number and we will then be bankrupt!
Annoying thing is im not sure how were going to do the SOA as when we filled this in with CAB they say were spending too much on groceries and could free up £500 as far as all these creditors and the receiver are concerned we currently spend £1300 a month inc nappies babyfood plus feed 7 of us in the house etc etc apparently we are only allowed £900 a month (yeah rite) it aint that easy but that means we need to juggle things around not sure how but will try.
Anyway hopefully we can get the car sold and as soon as thats done we will go and do the deed which will be a relief in a way as then the phone can stop ringing, people can stop calling, we can maybe take control of money and we can start to maybe chill just slightly!0 -

Yes theres a Levy but we have to find the money from somewhere to get us round this mess, we will pay the rest of the money owed so the cars get released before we go bankrupt any way so that will just help us out.0

How are you going to find all this extra money if you are insolvent anyway? Not trying to be rude at all, just realistic.
If you need to go bankrupt you obviously haven't got enough money to service your current commitments?
Either way, if the levy is valid, it isn't yours to sell?0 -

Hi, im still not clear on the order of events yet, are you sying that you will pay the baliff first to get the levy lifted and then sell the car or the other way roundHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
