Opening the Post

Since I became a DFW... opening the post isn't so tough. I've got a handle on my money (or sometimes lack of it :rotfl:) but after reading through a couple of threads this morning I see that it wasn't just me.
So what is it about opening the post or answering the phone that puts the fear of God in us? I used to hate the thoughts of the postman coming & I loved Sundays 'cos there was no post. I used to unplug the phone too!
In another thread someone mentioned it's a survival tactic. And I think thats absolutley right... but a bit of a "head in the sand" tactic too, well it was for me... if I can't see it, it can't be happening
So, it's a small DFW victory for me, being able to open the post. Anyone else feel the same?
