Using deal websites for Christmas shopping

I've become a little bit addicted to these amazing deal emails that you get from places like buyometric.co.uk and groupon.co.uk/ but I haven't bought anything yet because I'm a bit nervous of how they work. I don't want to get stung as it has happened to me in the past. I'm also worried about sending things back because I'd like to buy some Christmas presents through these systems and I'm worried about delivery times.

Has anyone used them? Positive or negative experiences would be helpful. Many thanks in advance.

What do teh websites sell, what presents do you want to buy ? why not use sites like amazon etc

if a deal looks to be too good to be true, it probably is!
  • I too am addicted to Groupon and have ordered a few things with no problem. Once you order the deal you have to wait for the deal to get enough people, then your order is processed usually the next day. I have not had a deal refused due to lack of interest. Also if you go through TCB get 10% cashback - bargain

  • Beware of Groupon. I bought a voucher for my local independent cinema but when I tried to use it the cinema wouldn't honour the voucher. There is no small print with restrictions on the voucher. It clearly states the voucher can be used 7 days a week. It clearly states 'just choose a film, a friend and a date to go'. The only terms and conditions are that you book in advance. I phoned up this week to book in to see Harry Potter and was told I can't use the voucher to see that film. As the cinema is a local independent one with just one screen it only shows one film a week (sometimes fortnight) so I had been saving it for a film I want to see. The voucher is useless to me as I can't use it at any other cinema and the voucher expires by the time a new film is on. I emailed Groupon to ask for a refund but they haven't responded.
  • Nice that many people like daily deals from groupon and co :) i hardly wonder bcoz these companies do a very good job :) but there are so many deal sites that no one really has the overview and also doesnt want to subscribe for 5 or even more various deal newsletters..thus i recommend coupobox which is just a great tool to save time finding the best deal - bcoz it does it for you :) but one disadvantage...even though coupobox tries to gather all deals, they still have to go a long way...currently they have 9 companies..but they promise to add more week by week..
