Debt Free as of today

Wow I just called my loan company & paid a settement figure of £11.57 to clear my final debt :j its been such a long slog. I'd been kinda paying it, racking it back up since 2007 and then on Jan first this year I took a long hard look at my finances & was £6500 in debt. Last year my nan died & I received £5000 which I duly paid to my creditors & just had an overdraft of £1400 left to pay, fast forward to Jan 10 and a couple of foreign holidays, living beyond my means & finally writing off my car my car on 17 Dec I was right back at square 1 as if my nan had never left me any of her savings. So in Jan I made a decision I was going to clear it this year once & for all and I've done it :j

I want to say a great big thank you to all the followers of the small things daily thread, ur all an amazing bunch, so lovely & supportive, full of fantastic ideas to keep costs down & pay off more to the debt. Have been there with comforting words when I've been at my lowest. I would highly recommend anyone joining this as it really kept me on track. I consider them all of be my friends & look foward to years of staying in touch :A

I want to go out & celebrate not get redy for work! :D

    nice one.:j
  • Massive congratulations to you! It was a similar situation to yours that led me to this site - I'd already paid off my CCs with a small inheritance, but ran them all up again and didn't want to squander the last of my remaining savings on perpetuating the cycle. So I'm now almost half way through a nine month challenge to pay off £5000 worth of CC debt (all on 0% BT cards, fortunately) while holding onto my savings. So far so good!

Can't WAIT to experience the feeling you describe - and I agree that this site is absolutely brill. Congrats again!

  • Brilliant - well done! Have you added yourself to the debt free roll of honour? I don't know how to post links but there is a sticky on the DFW board which has the link to it.
