Hi all, hope someone can help, I'm a bit stuck.
I've got a dell inspiron laptop which I can't shutdown. (It used to work correctly). If I press the power button (which is set to shutdown comp), then comp shuts down but then restarts immediately. Same if I shutdown from the start menu. The only way to shutdown is to press and hold the power button, and i don't think it likes this much. I've ran CCleaner, Malwarebytes (nothing found), and i've downloaded hijack this, but I dont know what i'm looking at there.
Any help greatly appreciated!

The first thing I'd do is right click on My Computer and then click Properties. Then click on the Settings; should be under startup and recovery in the Advanced tab, and then uncheck the Automatically Restart option.
Failing that it might be worth checking your BIOS settings to see if there's a power management option that forces it to restart with a PM event.

Thanks for that Dan, I checked that and right enough, in the section 'system failure', the automatic restart is checked.
Since I did the CCleaner etc, then posted this thread, Ive tried shutting down a few times and it's worked fine :santa2:
Maybe when Ive shut it down previously its been having some kind of system failure??
I'll uncheck that box anyway.
Anyways, seems ok now, thanks for your help.0
