MP has contacted the CSA

My MP has contacted the CSA for me to try to get my Old System put onto the New System, after a recent re-assessment has taken my payments through the roof. My children are nearly 18 and 15, I received the reply that because the new computer was not good enough to handle the changes in 2003, people have to just put up with their payments. How can re-assessments of the old system still be done, when it was an unjust system? Do I have an alternative route to help my plight? My ex-wife has since remarried and been divorced again! This prompted a re-assessment when she changed her name and circumstances.

Am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if you are still on the CS system prior to 2003 then you will not get moved across to the new system. There are still many cases on CS1 and we have all been told the same - if it was as easy as getting your MP to complain then they would have been inundated by now!!
Re-assessments on the old system are still being carried out, albeit by fewer and fewer trained staff.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -

You wont be changed over.
Many compliant NRPs like me would love to be on new rules but it simply isnt going to happen. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -
Oh dear... it looks like I will be signing on at the jobcentre for many more years to come.
I always thought I was transfer to new system when a new assessment is made. Im currently NIL but I think the dole office pays a token each week. If i were to stop signing on, would i then be moved to new system?0 -
The only way of changing a CS1 case to a new CS2 case is if the PWC closes the case down then opens a new case after 13 weeks, or if a new PWC applies for maintenance, ie. another child is born and the parents don't stay together. In the 2nd instance any affects to the payments on the original case would be phased in over several years anyway so it may not make much difference.0

Nope! You should be on a flat rate of £5 a week unless you have diability benefits.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
Many Thanks to all who have replied, it looks like I am knackered again, I have been divorced 14 years and have been financially screwed all the way down the line by my ex. Even paid half the mortgage for 6 years, then when she did buy me out of the house, I allowed her to get the house valued and paid me half the equity (it was undervalued by 20 k). I am a fool and now the kids have been poisoned, due to the fact I didn't have the financial clout to treat the kids all of the time. To them money is everything!! But, commercialism cannot be sustained in this day and age. I will eventually have my day. Thanks for the support.0
