Advice re dentist please

Hi all

I am after a bit of advice from anyone that may know please.

Basicaly i have had a large filling for several years after a few years it got sensitive so i spoke to my dentist about it who took the filling out put something in and re filled it.

Now recently it had started to do the same filling has sunk and is now sensitive to hot and cold.

I have since changed dentists so on my last two visits have mentioned this to the dentist, last time they said leave it and see how it is next time, so on my most recent visit i said it had not changed.

She has now said that the only thing she can do is take the filling out, put in a temporary filling for six months and then fill again with permenant filling. BUT there is a chance something will happen
(sorry forgott what she said was too worried once i heard temporary filling for 6 months) resulting in me needing root canal treatment.

Now i dont know why but i am petrified of dentists always have been, i do not know why i only have two fillings and am sure one of them did not need to be done visited a nhs dentist two years ago for a check up and she started drilling without even telling me. also alot of other thigs happened there to people i know and the dentist was struck off.

I am probably worried over nothing and know i have babbled on but is this the right thing to happen with the temp filling or not or is it simply a case of different dentists do things different ways, please help.
