Debt with Reclaiming solicitors

Hi
Silly i know but a few years back i used a company to reclaim back unfair credit car charges & bank charges.
They were succesful in reclaiming me back 2k that went stright into their respective debts, & i owe them £700 for theirt services.
However my partner was made redundant 18 months from full time job back & has been in part time employment for the last 14 months.
We used our local CAB and they draw up a SOA for us, & our debtors have accepted £1 monthly payment since then.
I have recieved a letter from the claims solicitors asking me for their fee, if they dont here from me within 14 days they will pass it on to a debt collector.
My question is that will it go to a debt collection agency or a baillif firm.
I simply cant afford the fee i owe to the claims firm
Any advice will be welcome
Thanks

To start with it would go to a debt collection firm.
It could only go to a baliffs after they had taken you to court.
If they did decide to take you to court you would receive court papers to complete and on those papers you would need to ask to pay in installments. If you didn't keep up repayments on a county court judgement only then could baliffs be instructed to try to recover the debt.
Have you been paying the firm the £1 token payment so far?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
im too scared to tell the reclaiming firm about my situation, i guess i kinda been burying my head in the sand about it, do you think i should ring them & tell them about my situation or wait for the DCA to get involve?0

The reclaiming solicitors have only recently been in touch to be honest i totally forgot i ever used them until the letter came through the other day. They know nothing about my circumstances at this moment in time0

Suggest that you go and have another chat with CAB.0 -
Well its a debt and you cannot afford it so I would treat it the same as the others. Did you send other creditors a copy of your SoA and a letter? I would do the same for this debt.
Do you have a longer term plan regarding your debts? Do you expect your circumstances to change so that you can afford to pay more, eg if you partner manages to find full time work? or are you considering any other options or a more permanent solution (perhaps such as bankruptcy or a DRO)?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
i sent letters & my soa to all my creditors & with a massive fight they all accepted the token payments.
Long term at the moment is living month by month, debt relief order is out of the question we have a mortgage. As soon as my partner is succesful in finding a full time job we can put more towards our debts, until then is keeping the fight with all the DCA's to accept the token payments0
