Overpaid tax? / BR tax ?? / Two jobs..?

Options
I used to be self employed (36 hours a week) and also had a weeked part time job (15 hours a week). I used to pay NI and tax (caluclated by my accoutnant on my self employed job. I am getting taxed on a basic tax rate on my second job. Is this correct?

Also now I lost my self employed work but still I am getting taxed BR on my second job. Will I get any of this tax back and I was told I will not get any help from JSA etc as I have a second job! Please help. Any response is much appreciated... Thank you

usually you would arrange for your tax allowance to be applied to your PAYE job as the SE tax is assessed after the tax year.
contact HMRC and ask them to apply your tax allowance to your PAYE job.

presumably you have already filled in your tax info for the tax year 2009-10 already and so last year is already sorted.
  • You can be on Job Seekers' Allowance and still work up to 16 hours a week.
