These are my responses :- Yes, I do live at home and £80 is my monthly keep.
- As for my telephone bill, as it is with O2 I can't change the pacxkage for 12 months and it would be extreemly costly for me to buy myself out.
- The diet package I am on is a "no food" diet - live on shakes, This is the cost so there is no way I can change that.
- I walk to work - 25 Minutes away
- I don't buy clothing anymore - It upsets me too much with the sizes I need, if i need to i used my catalouges.
Have you checked this diet out? It's similar stuff to Lighter Life or Cambridge, but you can get a month's worth for approx £100. I like the shakes.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your responses! Really means alot to me.
I was on slimming world for nearly a year and I would only lose a pound or 2 a week. Being 21, it is hard to be a larger lady. The fashion all my friends wear won't go near me, so I'm extreemly self-concious. I did used to get a lift to my job, but I started to walk, saving petrol money, and an aid to lose weight. I can't run at the moment due to some form of arthritis in my Knees (Doctors say it may be something else - I have hardly any cartlidge left behind my kneecaps.)
As for the bank of Mam & Dad - There isn't one. As I am an only child, my mother wanted me to have everything she didn't as a child (my grand-parents were also skint!) so she got herself into debt and the cycle has continued. So my Mam and Dad have a DMP.
My mother always tried to tell me to "learn from her mistakes". When I took the catalouges and the CCs out, I was in a well Paying job in a Bank. The stress of the sales took its toll and I ended up in hospital with stress related illnesses.
I decided to change jobs to an admin based job - I love filing! OCD! I LOVE it here, but I work 40 hours a week for pittance. I have asked for a payrise but no such luck..
I really dont want to get a DMP myself at such a young age, and I cant get any more credit so a 0% balance transfer is a no-go
Thanks for all your advise!

Hiya,
I think that you need to do 2 things;
1) Up your income
2) Up your self esteem!
1) - with the festive season fast approaching, people are going to need babysitters. Is this something you could do? 2 nights a week at say £20 a night would give you an extra £170 a month. Other ideas off the top of my head are, making jewellery, indoor car boot sales, dog walking, Saturday job (as I presume your admin jon is Mon - Fri)
2) - Buying stuff hasn't helped your self esteem, so you need to work on the inner you. Make a list of all your good points, ask your Mum, friends, what they are if you can't see them yourself. Use these as affirmations to yourself every day. Visualise yourself as happy, confident and successful. Confident people are not always as confident as they appear, they just develop a knack of appearing to be so, so that gradually that is how peole percieve them.
Got to run, will check in later!

I was on slimming world for nearly a year and I would only lose a pound or 2 a week - Thats brilliant. That's the perfect amount of weight to lose per week! Thats half a stone every month! Its sustainable and healthy, if you lose too much at once it'll be harder to maintain and sometimes when you lose too much too soon you get really loose skin which is even harder to shift than the weight.
I can't run at the moment due to some form of arthritis in my Knees (Doctors say it may be something else - I have hardly any cartlidge left behind my kneecaps.) I was told I had bad knees when I was overweight, but i've just ran a half marathon and had no problem with my knees (except for the disgusting clicking and crunching noise they make - but no pain or injury). If you invest in some proper supportive trainers there's no reason why you can't do a gentle jog. Knee supports can be bought from places like aldi and poundland to help. Sign up for one of the RACE FOR LIFE 5 or 10k challenges, its something to aim for, a brilliant achievement and its full of women of all ages, shapes, sizes and fitness ranges all doing their bit for charity. The training will motivate you and also help your weight loss. Once you're signed up you can't back out of it once people have sponsored you! I know a lot of larger ladies hate being seen in a swimming costume but if you can brave it swimming and aqua-aerobics (at your local pool - try find a ladies only session or a quiet time) are brilliant for burning calories and low impact on your joints as the water supports your weight taking the pressure off your joints. Do you have any cousins, or younger brothers & sisters who have a trampoline? These are brilliant for jogging on the spot and jumping - again low impact for bad joints and really fun. It works all your core tummy muscles keeping your balance! You can even buy one of the little ones from places like argos for about £20.
I decided to change jobs to an admin based job - I love filing! OCD! I LOVE it here, but I work 40 hours a week for pittance. I have asked for a payrise but no such luck. Have you checked how many hours you do and what the minimum wage is for 21year olds, your wage sounds very low.....are they paying you the right amount for so many hours?
But well done for you, you've already done the hardest part - confronting your problems and doing something about them:T
Keep up the good work!0 -
Very good post from missworks....I wholeheartedly echo what she has said! 1-2lb per week on SW is fantastic and exactly the right sort of weight loss to be maintainable and succesful.
Have you considered powerwalking instead of running? I have terrible problems with my knee disclocating all the time due to having missing quad muscle so nothing to hold it in place. With the right footwear and suitable knee support I trained for the Moonwalk and powerwalked 26.2 miles with no problems! Managed to lose a stone as well without any changes to my diet whatsoever.Overdrafts transferred to MBNA £953.40/£4279.80 Car insurance (on CC) £461.98/£751.98  Bank of mum and dad £1500/£5000Total debt repaid £2915.38/£10,031.78 (29%):T Owed [STRIKE]£10,031.78[/STRIKE][STRIKE] £7400[/STRIKE] £7116.40 Pay off as much as you can in 2011 challenge £1127.60/£40000 -
Just a quick addition re your pay. The minimum wage changed at the beginning of this month and the age band also changed so that the highest minimum (£5.93 per hour) is now paid to all those aged 21 and above (used to be 22) If you are paid monthly you might have a bit more this month!!0

I'm the same with the diet and money thing but I've worked out that meal replacements are going to be cheaper for me than my usual lunchtime sandwich and coffee from the cafe. I'm recently seperated, have a stressful job and have 2 kids (not fishing for any pats on the back I know everyone has a busy life) and I just feel like I'm constantly chasing my tail. I'm going to swap breakfast and lunch for celebrity slim meal replacements, then still cook for me and the kids in the evening as this is our quality time. I've budgeted the meal replacements and by buying the packs off the Internet it works out fairly reasonable for two meals each day. Good luck Katie!0

Well of course a shake will be cheaper than a sandwich and coffee at a cafe. But wont be cheaper than a sandwich or salad made at home.
OP losing 1-2 pounds a week is good. I'd be happy losing that a week.0 -
Making homemade low fat soups would also be much much cheaper! Quick, easy and freezeable and there are lovely SW recipes for syn free soup.Overdrafts transferred to MBNA £953.40/£4279.80 Car insurance (on CC) £461.98/£751.98  Bank of mum and dad £1500/£5000Total debt repaid £2915.38/£10,031.78 (29%):T Owed [STRIKE]£10,031.78[/STRIKE][STRIKE] £7400[/STRIKE] £7116.40 Pay off as much as you can in 2011 challenge £1127.60/£40000
