Also maybe informing the son that you are unable to help directly to him as much as you would like as you are still paying child support directly to his Mum.

Devil's advocate here......(I hate PWC's like this that give us all a bad name!) - obviously the child is old enough to have a discussion with if they have left college. They are asking for help with clothes etc and costs of getting to and from work I assume until their first pay day? Let the 'child' know that you would love to help out, however, as you are still obliged to send child support to their mother, you are limited as to what you can do. However, if they can provide you with a notification of them having left college/started work - then you could maybe speed this process up a bit and send it along to CSA. Don't know if it would help at all - but I'm sure that CTC would be a little faster to check than CB if they said it would be years!

Heard from CSA today. They said that as PWC has not clarified whether eldest child has left college and she denied he is working - my partner still has to pay.

So they've managed to find out that, according to mum, he is not working but they struggled to find out if he was still at college. Typical CSA. Just because he isn't working doesn't mean that you have to pay CSA, that isn't the criteria, I thought you had to be under 19 and in FTE?!?

Don't know how you contacted them before, but I would email asking them why they are unable to get the PWC to confirm if he is in FTE.

We're in a similar position, however my partner's daughter does at least go to college but for between 6-8 hours per week. This is not full time but mum says it is so that's that!!

Does he know where son is working? If he can provide those details to the CSA then they can check on his tax code and NI record to see if he is registered and so close the claim........

  • Thanks everyone. Yes, he does know where son is working and we've given this info to the CSA. My partner has emailed his ex (they don't speak) to say that unless she notifies the CB of the change in circumstances, then he will.
    I'll keep you updated!!

    Clever!

sarflee its very frustrating, I agree, but CSA will take maintenance while CB is being paid, whether or not it is being fraudulently claimed, so the problem here is CB, not (unusually) the CSA.

one email to your mp with these details will solve this.

the csa will fob you off and ignore you because it's easy and they cant be a r s e d to investigate.

once MP is involved it will be sorted in days and the case closed.
