Hello everyone . Welcome to the weekly spend challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Yellow - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her around last year

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x

Good luck everyone.

  • Good morning everyone!

I was green (just!) last week with a spend of £69.46 - yay me!

Unfortunately, I'm having a few much needed catch ups with friends over the next few days, so I'll go without my MSE fix for a lil while, but looking forward to seeing my friends ... every cloud ...;)

So, bearing that in mind, I'll pledge £100 for next week - thank you Pointy!

Have a good week everyone, and good luck!

  • ok £10 again.... payday friday and I don't have anything planned this week, i've bought my alcohol for party, got my outfit and decorations, sorted my work shoes out, hopefully someone at work is giving me their bag I can use... only thing is a few soft drinks for party and a pumpkin or two.... but my flatmate owes me £21 still and it's payday before!
  • OK so when I checked in on Tuesday. Wednesday was a NSD (phew!). Then Thursday I spent £16 on a lovely incredibly intimate gig, drinks and dinner (actually a bargain when you count all that).

Then Friday I paid for some dry cleaning which I'd forgotten about, £29, and found a set of four habitat mugs for £2 in a charity shop.

So very RED this week, total £67.50. Ouch

Next week, being the last week till pay day (which will be Thursday) I will pledge £20.
