Another Dental Cost question

Hi,
I went to my dentist the other day, just moved to the area so she was new to me, I had been meaning to go but you know how it is, I had a pain in my very back lower tooth, didnt make it before it came out whilst chomping on a midget gem:o, well half of it, called my dentist, couldnt get in till 3 days later and in the meantime a filled tooth at the side top snapped:eek:, so went on Thursday, it is an NHS dentist and I do pay for my treatment, she looked at the back tooth said it is a wisdom tooth and will have to come out because of the way it has snapped, now this is bad for me because there is one tooth next to it then a bit of a gap, so I say what can be done, she says a bridge, so I think I am getting 3 teeth there now which is great but it will cost £750!!, She mentioned saving the side tooth but then proceeded to take 2 impressions, told me to make to appointments to get the tooth out etc..... when I went to pay the bill they said £190 for the top tooth (I am guessing she is crowning it) and then a further £750 for the bottom.
I may be being stupid but I thought there was a kind of cap on what you paid for treatment at the dentist.
Any advice would be great,
thanks

Its obviously private treatment you are having.
Go back and find out exactly what is happening. Dont just go along with the flow, if you cant afford this tell them so.
They really should have explained it better and told you of the options.
I presume you could change your mind once you have found out the proper information.
NHS would just entail either fillings and extraction or both.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
If you are in England or Wales these are definitely not NHS charges.
Scotland is different but I would imagine you are being charged part NHS part private.
This should be explained in advance0 -
