Congratulations to you both! Lovely pics and dress - unusual colour as has been said. I like the glitter cake too! Yum!

I keep telling everyone my wedding dress is green - it isn't, but it stops them in their tracks and they all sort of go 'Oh......um.......right'.

    Huge congratulations to you!

I hope this is going to come out the right way...

I am so glad you posted your pics! I have ummed and arr'd whether I would want to wear something other than white but at the same time I was VERY worried that it would look unbride-like if that makes sense? However, as your pics prove - that's not the case! You look every inch the bride in your non white dress and it suits you perfectly :D

Glad that you had such a wonderful day...and those toppers are awesome :T

I totally understand what you mean - but there are so many 'bridal' style dresses out there that can be made in all the colours imaginable. My dress was also available in white as a bridal gown.

What I will say though is that it does make it incredibly hard to have a colour scheme! Bridesmaids dresses were very difficult to get because they needed to be either white (and I was adamant that I wanted white, not off white!) or matching/co-ordinating green (I didn't want black) though I had no colour matching swatch for quite a while because the dress was on order, and my bridesmaids were very different shapes. They took an absolute age to find! And my husbands suit was also difficult because we hired, and there were very few choices of colours so we ended up getting the brown and hoping it would be ok - and luckily i think it did look nice! But other things like cake ribbons etc - all are completely decided by the dress and there is no room for compromise, whereas if you go for a white/ivory dress then I think there's a bit more wiggle room!!

Having said all that, I wouldn't have changed my colours for the world and with a lot of hard work, we ended up getting the colours ok!

the glitter cake looked fantastic - they set it up under the disco lights for us to cut it, and it shimmered away - amazing! I had glitter eyeshadow on too :)

i had the same response when i told people about my dress at first, but to be honest i don't think people were that surprised - i've never been one for tradition or convention!
  • congrats mimosaurus you looked amazing I'm gonna show my best friend your pics that shade of green is her favourite colour she would have loved your dress :D really happy it turned out how you wanted

That was the only problem I came across - colour scheme! Although we aren't actually engaged yet we have discussed a 2012 wedding and I might even only have my little girl as a BM so would make it much easier (hopefully!). Do you know what designer the dress was by?

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

We had negative comments about loads of things - the day was starting too late, too early, it wasn't clear where people were supposed to be, the hotel was too expensive, the reception venue wasn't posh enough etc etc etc. We have had SO many comments about how amazing the wedding was, how nice the venues were, how relaxed the day was - people soon changed their tune when they realised how well our plans had worked out! i think people are just sceptical of change! so good for you in your red dress - rock that look i say.

and we had our reception in a place called the Bull Inn which was part of the reason for the topper :D

sorry but i have no idea who the designer was - i hired the dress so never really paid too much attention to who made it as there was no way of getting it cheaper! i hired it from this shop though - http://www.ladiesdresshire.co.uk/ and Linda who runs it is the most amazing woman, she's so lovely and would definitely be able to help you out! she does order in for people who want to buy too - and I think the dress was around £250 to buy but I didn't want to store it etc afterwards. My dress comes in every colour you can imagine - i've seen it in white, lilac, pink, teal and midnight blue and all of them are beautiful. in fact, both times i was trying it on, there was someone else there trying on the same dress in a different colour!!! :D the 'bling' on the front is also up the back too - it's an open corset back, you can have a modesty panel in but i chose not to, and up each side of the lacing is the same sequins and embroidery. People kept saying "now don't think I'm weird... but turn around because I wnat to see your back!!!" I sound like a walking advert - but I loved that dress so much, and Linda at the dress shop was amazing!
