Best buy kettle?

When my elderly kettle died last year I replaced it with a Brita kettle that incorporated a water filter. After a few weeks it refused to work and I set about taking it back for a replacement. This was delayed because I couldn't find the receipt. As a temporary measure, I bought a basic kettle from Asda for about £6. When I took the broken kettle back, they couldn't replace it so they gave me a refund.
By this time, I'd started wondering why I would want to spend more than £6 on a kettle. After all, it boiled water (OK, slowly) and it splashed if I poured too quickly but I figured I could live with these things.
Six months on, I want a better kettle - my bargain kettle is ageing before my eyes. Whatever the coating on the element is, it's peeling off and it's starting to buzz when I switch it on. Well, I guess we do use it a lot ...
So ... not bargain basement but not expensive (£25 max reasonable?) and will stand up to heavy, daily, domestic use. Anybody got a kettle that slays the competition?

Slightly over your budget at £29.97 but highly recommended is this Russell Hobbs Kettle. Rapid Boil so a bit noisy though.
That reminds me....the kettle's boiled.....He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0 -
