welcome finance - problems

i took a loan with them about 4 years ago with my (then current now ex) gf for £2500 i have been paying this back at £85 per month but have stopped paying recently due to sickness from work. I asked them how much is still owed to be told £3600 . I informed of my time off work and they informed me that if i lost my job my ex would be liable for the loan as it was in her name too , she cannot be located so was wondering if anyone has any advice on what to do as they are about to pass my details to a debt collector.

See my post about welcome a few posts down :) anyway did you take payment protection as this should cover it, ask the manager at the branch if you can have a payment break and explain why. If you do it in a nice manner they may help (even though it is welcome finance)

You can't lie about your job circumstances as they will either check up with your doctor or job centre to see that you have signed on as eligible for work.
    Good luck with your claim.
A joint loan means that you both have joint and several liability to repay - you can't just say I've paid my half now go and get the rest off my partner.
