I am not young, and I am refusing to turn the heating on because I do not want to give npower any money.

I changed over to them a few years ago and the transfer was made intolerable due to the meters not being read and npower and atlantic not being able to agree a meter reading. It took horrendous number of telephone calls and emails.

during this time Npower decided to change the billing between services to six months apart and then they suddenly told me that ofgen had told them I had to go on their most expensive rate and I could not change to another cheaper rate.

I cannot face another few months of hassle changing supplier and I feel persecuted by npower, my solution at the moment is simply to try and not use any electricity or gas I know this is stupid but it is how I feel.
I resent npower. they never come and read the meters and are always taking more and more money from my bank saying that I must be using more due to some averaging system they have on their computer.

I just feel so tired of it all.

Like you suggest, play the violin music, our hearts are bleeding for you. You chose not to switch to a capped tariff - you chose a variable one. Prices change. If you are unhappy, switch again.

If they are sending you estimated bills phone them up with an actual reading, problem solved.

If you dont like their service change suppliers, problem solved.

Ofgem don't instruct Suppliers on changing your tariffs so thats a lie from whoever told you that.

You are going to have to get on a cheaper tariff or change Suppliers at some point.

Take your own reads, don't rely on them or any Supplier for that.
