car boot or t'internet?

As I mentioned last week I was planning on flogging off a whole bookcase of books, dvds etc - I reckon I probably have about 500 paperbacks, perhaps 100 or so hardback books, probably 20 or so DVD box sets (some never watched) and dozens and dozens of other little items.

I was pointed to some good sites for books etc, but I am wondering whether I am better off taking them to a car boot sale in order to avoid the hassle of listing, posting etc? If I was to do a boot sale then I would also stick in a whole load of clothes etc that are not really worth putting on ebay - vest tops, shorts etc - items that would probably be of minimal value and then there is the hassle of chasing for payment, delivery out etc...

I would still ebay the "better" more expensive items.

What do you think? What would get the best return?

Go to a boot sale, and whatever you don't sell stick on the internet :)

Really? That's a shame. I did really well last year, but I have so many bits and pieces this year I wasn't sure if it was worth it for the smaller stuff.

Got to be car boot as books are ten a penny on the Internet these days. Look at Amazon most are on sale for 1p. I got a once read like new large hard back the other day from a charity shop seller and paid 45p plus postage. The book actually cost as much as I had paid to post so after fees not sure what any thing they would make. In the case of the book I bought they may have made a few pence but at 1p a book you are going to make nothing. Not sure the likes of eBay are much better and a lot of places like Cash Converters have take to selling on-line these days.

Over the years I've not had much success selling books at car boots, even though prices are low. But did sell a few. Never sold on eBay, but bought plenty.

eBay is better for some stuff like DVDs etc but they have some barking postage limits for them like a £1 or something.

Also boot sales offer very little chance of comeback, eBay is full of crooks and oddballs these days.

Yep, some gut bought an expensive CPU off me a few years ago, I sent, he signed and then a few days later said he hadn't got it and Fleabay agreed, Payfail took the money back and I could basically do f*ck all, never used the thing since.
