Wilkinson Saver Stamps

I was stood by the customer service desk of my local Wilkinson yesterday and overheard the assistant say to a customer, "as the item you are purchasing is over £20 would you like to buy £19 of saver stamps which you can immediately spend as £20". Needless to say the customer took up the option and the assistant started to make the offer to other customers waiting at the desk, encouraging them to effectively pay £19 get £20 instant pay back. Only good if spending £20 of course.
An instant yield of 5.26% which is equal to 1920% per annum (just in case you wanted to know).
