can anyone tell me if I'm entitled to claim back fro footwear & washing my uniforms? I work for a high street store, & whereas I could do this when I was nursing I'm not sure if I can & how far I can claim back

You should be able to as long as they don't feel that you could reasonably wear the corporate clothing outside work!
And for 6 years.
Ring your tax office and tell them and they'll almost certainly provide you with an increase in your personal allowance for £50ish a year (which will be worth £10 a year to a basic rate taxpayer).
Sometimes they will send a check for previous years too, or alternatively build those in to your tax code as a one of for the current tax year.0 -
