Yes, my son's teacher told me that this year they have narrowed the margins in the results as previously the band was v wide resulting in large differences between top and bottom. For example last year my son's English score (aged 10) was 16yrs 4 mths whereas this year (age 11) it's 13yrs 7 mths!! I was v concerned as saw this as a drastic fall although i hadn't noticed him becoming any less talented in English! His teacher reassured me that it is because of the changes in the marking and as far as they were concerned his level had stayed constant, just the marking had changed!Life's a box of beads - rainbow coloured and full of surprises!:D0

my daughter is p4 and got hers last week her maths and reading age are both higher than her actual age. her teacher told me it was a good score and the majority of the p4s had all dropped below their ages so they didnt feel the scores were very accurate. i was just wondering had other schools found this too0 -
Our school does them and at recent parent/teacher interviews as much as told us that they dont go much by them as the dont feel are an overly accurate assessment of the children. Especially as they are done (too soon in schools opinion) - after school summer holidays.0

As far as I am aware all schools in N.Ireland carry out INcas testing around October time. My dtr is in P7 and has done them 3 times now. The first yr her scores were well above her age. last yr there was a massive drop, although her standard of work at home and in school didnt show any signs. Teacher thought she may have had a bad day. We are due to get this yrs scores in 2 wks at parent/teacher meetings, but I am not concerned what she gets as I know what her standard of work is.0
