A HEARTFELT THANK YOU to all the people who actually had the nerve to come out and say that they do not clean under cooker, washing machine and fridge - I was starting panicking that I am the only one in the UK (world, even !) that doesn't do it!
My electrical appliances are all on the worktop and cluttering the heck out of my kitchen, they gather dust and sometimes they don't get used for ages. I do not have the time to do two jobs AND to clean as thoroughly as I would like to, and also have a pair of extremely slovenly teenage children who make an unholy mess of anything I clean.
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
I'm another leaver on worktops, bread machine, food processor and blender live out all the time with the scales and easiyo. I push them right to the back so that I can still use the rest of the worksurface at the front. They don't get time to go dusty I make them work for a living.
And I'm also another non cleaner under white goods I work full time and part time and have numerous other things that need doing everyday so I'm afraid it's a case of I can't see under the white goods so I don't go there.0 -
I don`t clean under the fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and cooker. They are built in under and next to a granite worktop and there is no way I could get at them and anyway we don`t have a pet or children at home. No where gets very dirty as the house is a new build and to be honest the kitchen is spotless without me doing much
Worktop space is limited so what I keep out has to pay it`s way. On top I keep a kenwood chef, a wok, a kettle, a knife block and a green life juicer. I have managed to store all the other bits and bobs away
Anyway all you busy mums: what on earth is the point of too much cleaning when we all that over-cleaning is not good for family health0 -
Actually you've made me think about new build houses here. I moved into a new build 6 years ago and there was very little worksurface. The kitchen had been designed to meet the needs of someone who took stuff out of the fridge and microwaved. There was very little space to chop veg or leave out a kettle, very little cupboard space either
Fortunately when I was away for a week working my other half took out the storage heater and built me worksurfaces all round the rest if the kitchen with cupboards above and below (bless him).
New builds are obviously not designed for OS life I think.....0 -
I have a small kitchen so it all has to stay out - breadmaker, george Foreman, liquidiser, kettle, toaster, slowcooker, also on my worktops is the microwave, radio, saucepan rack, tea, coffee and sugar canisters, small recycling bin(for composter) so its a wonder I have any worktop! but I manage, cant be doing with getting them in and out of the cupboards all the time!
I have to confess to regularly cleaning under my white goods:eek:Do what you love :happyhear0 -
I don;t have many things - SC, microwave and kettle live on the worktop, blender in cupboard.
I hardly ever clean under my appliances - only if I need to move them for something, like painting.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

i have kettle, microwave , microwave out. hand blender hands up on a hook. all the other appliances breadmaker , food processer , deep fat fryer are kept in shed.
ok thats sounds odd. we have a concret shed built onto side of house and we have turned it into a pantry type store. it also houses tumble drier and chest freezer.
as for cleaning under white good's. i cleaned them about 2 months ago as we had a change about so had to. as for under the cooker. oh my god it really needs it but i just don't have the strength to do it. but i will do soon as it is now going to bug me.0 -
I've got my kettle, toaster, microwave, BM and steamer on my worktop. When the weather gets a bit colder the steamer will be replaced by the SC as I use it more for stews etc in cold weather.
The George, coffee maker(s), food processor and stick blender all live in my gadget cupboard but get used regularly.
Have to admit, I'm another who only cleans properly under white goods when they get replaced:smileyhea0 -
