Morrison's rant - Bad Customer Service!

Hi
Had to have a quick rant about the appalling customer service at Morrison's today!

I popped in to use the Coinstar machine as I had loads of coppers (16.00 quids worth!!)

I put my change in and got my receipt from the machine which clealr states to "take your receipt to any till in store today to collect your cash" I didn't need any shopping so went to the kiosk were they sell sweets, cigs etc and waited. It was lunchtime, so busy with folk buying sandwiches etc. After around 5 mins I got to the till and the women said "you can't redeem your receipt here, you have to go to the customert service desk" The CS desk is right next to the counter I was cuurently stood at (about 1 foot in distance away!) So I wasn't that happy, but went to the CS desk and joined the line, there were several customers making complaints and I was waiting for 15 mins!!

When I finally got to the front, the same lady served me as had told me to change lines, she was manning both tills. She took my receipt of me with a grunt and went back to the first till where I had originally waited and got my cash!! I had bitten my tongue up to this point, but then had to ask why it didn't say on the receipt that you could only collect your money from the CS desk, not any till as it clearly states. She told me in a terribly rude manner for somebody on customer services that Morrison's don't own the machine and there was nothing they could do. How hard would it be to put a notice on the coinstar machine explaining that you need to go to the CS desk for your money?

It may not seem that big a deal, but it really annoyed me, I wasted 20 mins of my own lunch, and felt the attitude of this women stunk! She was clearly on a power trip, how hard would it have been to serve me at the first till, but just mention in future to use the customer service desk?

Glad I've gotten it off my chest!!

Next time you go into that store and the woman is serving.....Take a big bag of coppers with you, purchase the most expensive item and hand over all the change and ask her if she would mind counting it out for you,if and when she does this tell her that you have changed your mind and you no longer wish to buy the item.

Not a bad idea that!! Not the kind of thing I would do though to be honest!
Its not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things, just had a bad day, was tired and her attitude really annoyed me!!

Don't those change machines only give you 90% of what you actually put in. Hardly money saving.

Here is what I do. When you do your shopping for small amounts, take the coins with you, and use a self service till. You can then pay the coins in as part payment.

It's the same at morrisons with lottery tickets(scratchards),in my local one the have 2 displays of cards, you have to join one queue for one box of cards but if you ask for a card from the other box they tell you to queue up at the next till along(3 feet away)as they cannot sell them from both boxes of cards at the same till

Tempting as the idea might be, most likely she'd refuse to accept it as it's not legal tender - 20p max is legal tender for coppers.

Hi we have shopped at the Morrisons in Derby for years but just lately they have been cutting staff hours back and on three consecutive visits we have had to wait some 10/12 miutes at the checkout.I wrote a letter to the store and copied head office in advising that with the wait and that i travel 8 miles to the store my frozen food had thawed out by the time i got home and would be taking my business elsewhere if they could not advise the problem would change .I did not get a response !!!!

I think a retailer only has to accept 20p in coppers, so this wouldn't work!

I hate those penny machines in supermarkets, as someone is making a lot of money from them! Always take your pennies to the bank instead, as you'll get 100%.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Retailers can accept as much or as little in coppers as they liked. So they don't have to accept a lot of change - but at the same time it's not automatically limited to 20p.

I thought if you wanted cash they took a percentage but if you got a voucher to spend there, then nothing knocked off ?
