Idiot proof cup cake and biscuit recipes Please

Options
Hi All,

Does anyone have or know where I can get idiot foolproof cup cake and biscuit recipes. My 3 year old enjoys baking but not everything we do is edible.

I have a few Winnie the Pooh biscuit cutters that she can use. The other problem is my oven is still on the blink and I'm having to use my microwave/convection oven.

Please share your ideas.....thanks.

    Hi there!

I used to work with children and took cookery classes with children aged 2 upwards  and the best recipe, which they all managed, and works really well with cut out biscuits is this:

4 oz 100g) butter or margerine
    3 oz (75g) caster sugar
    1 egg
1 tsp lemon juice (could substitute with vanilla essence but less needed)
    8 oz plain flour

Cream the butter/margerine and sugar. Beat in the egg with the lemon juice. Fold in the flour and form into a soft dough. Roll out the dough on a floured board and cut into biscuit shapes. bake for 10 - 15 mins at 375F/190C/Gas mark 5. Leave until cold and then ice and decorate.

    Enjoy yourselves!

oops just notice you have to use a microwave, sorry all I can think of is the melted choc and rice crispie cakes at the mo, will go away and put on my thinking cap!

    Catz x

I do the basic sponge recipe and then cook in the microwave.

    100g SR flour
    100g soft marge
    100g Caster sugar
    2 eggs

Cream marge and sugar, add flour and eggs. Beat together. Then add choc chips or sultanas (or a couple of tablespoons of cocoa powder too if you like).

Then put in a greased casserole dish and zap in the microwave on full power for about 4-7 minutes.

I also tip the same mix into cup cakes but usually bake these but see no reason why you couldn't zap them instead - just not sure of timing. :)

Edit: the choc chips always seem to fall to the bottom of the cake when cooked in the microwave... not sure why!!

I did a microwave carrot cake for a school project ( erm) quite a few years ago and it was brilliant. In fact it won me the home ec year prize. humble.gif
Dont have the recipes for that though.

I reckon your best bet is to search for microwave baking

There was also a microwave flapjack recipe on here that is excellent! The only difficult bit is waiting for it to cool enough so that it cuts properly instead of crumbling!!
