Getting Everything Sorted

Hi, after much soul searching I am going to go down the bankruptcy route - as long as the CAB advises - but having researched I think that this is the most lightly option.

Anyway - I need to get a list of my creditors as I actually dont have a complete picture of what I owe or to whom. How do I do this?

Is it as simple as getting my credit report and listing everyone on there? I remeber looking at this once before and discovering that not all of my creditors where on there.

If I declare myself BR without all of my creditors and then they find me later on - will I be liable?

Thanks

Nick

    Hi

You are right getting your credit reports won't necessarily tell you everyone you owe money to. It would give you a starting point, particularly if you get reports from all 3 of the CRAs.

Have you not got paperwork and letters chasing you for payment that you can work through in order to work out how much you owe to whom? CAB will probably only be able to advise on the best route once they know how much you owe.

Edit - sorry forgot to answer the second part. I am fairly certain that with bankruptcy even if a debt is ommitted it still becomes part of your bankruptcy. But if you have an income payment arrangement after you are made bankrupt I am not sure if this is affected at all.
You'll probably get a more useful response if you post on the bankruptcy section of the forum.

  • If you do not own any property you live in, go bankrupt. Forget the credit reference industry, they can do nothing for you. Try to start saving, after you are free.
