I have to admit mine is not the brain that conceived all of it. The snowball calculator is borrowed from the one advertised on here, and the frills bit is also borrowed from someones on here. I just put them all together in a format which worked for me. I'm going to add a budget page when I get round to it, and am considering linking it together a bit more - but it does the job just fine as it is anyway :D Glad it's been of some help to folks.

  • I.E. a part time job at evenings after working full time all day / week?

It's something I'm looking at, after being off with anxiety / stress (scary time) and dropping off the management scheme with Sainsbury's and being forced into normal duties (no supervisory role offered aside from nights sadly. I've been actively job hunting.

Applied for tons of jobs within HMRC, Morrisons Head Office, Yorkshire Water, Hallmark Cards, First Direct (passed first interview)..

My thoughts on my getting a second job are to have more income so that I can cover my car outgoings (insurance / HP) then have enough money to tackle my longer term debts (catalogues , credit cards, HP for Lappy).

I don't overly do anything on week nights anyway, my g/f is away at Hull Uni and I only see her at weekends, so I would work be able to work the Sunday night if it was a bar / pub job. Then rest of weekly nights.

Anyone do this? Any practical advice? Workable? Will I be knackered? Apologies for going on, I feel like caught in between a rock and a hard place at the minute with my job.. Just waiting for something to come along is boring!

My thoughts are that I can cover my car (major expense) with my part time wage then focus on using my full time proper wage to tackle the debts, the SOA is on it's way, I've nearly finished it in Excel!

  • Can I just say also, I have a lot of respect for the people on here who actively run families on far less money than I get a month, it's a degree of shame really that I am crap with money, but I'd rather get it sorted now than in 5 years time.

Well done on getting eveything together.

I currently work my *normal* job as a software developer which I do for 2.5 days a week (which I cram into two 10 hour days). I do this so I can spend time with my baby girl, and my 2 step daughters.

I also then do a bar job 4 or 5 nights a week. I don't get to bed until 1am most mornings, give or take a bit, and am then up to feed baby at 7. I am also trying to start up childminding a little for some extra cash. Yes, I do find it tough, but marking down the overpayments on my spreadsheet at the moment keep me going. Along with the thought that it means in a few years I'll be able to do many more things with and for my kids that I can't do now.

I'd recommend you give it a go personally. Maybe just 2 or 3 nights a week, and see how you go.

    Good Luck!

  • My inspiration for all this is Gordon Ramsay, never works a weekend, has that as family time, as he works 80 - 90 hours a week through the week.

I want the same for my life, my g/f is away at Hull Uni, I want weekends to be our time, I dont have anything to do through the week aside from work so I would rather work an work and get my debts down whilst she is away then work towards the weekend.

Aside from that, Sundays I play football and then would be happy to work Sunday evenings in the bar / pub after football.

It will be exhausting but the increase in income will pay dividends, I firmly believe that I can do it and then work firmly towards the weekends when I will see my g/f, I'll be tired, but at least I'll have a bit more disposable income and at the same time getting my debts down!
  • Anyone any further advice regarding the SOA, debts in general etc?

Why don't you post this in a new thread - I'm sure that you will get more answers that way

    Hi there,
I'm a bit obsessed with my spreadsheet, and since I keep going on about it I thought I'd put it somewhere people can see it.

    HTH!
    Hi there,
impressive spreadsheet. Do not suppose you would be so kind to give an advice on where to start on the Snowball sheet? There is so much, I am not sure what to do first?

    Thank you
