Credit file query - cleaning needed?

Hi all, have come back after a a couple of years away as I suddenly realised that the BR was not the end of the story. I had completely missed the need to sort the credit file.

Having looked at the (free trial) online credit reports I have found that my two biggest debts are still listed with an amount and no mention of being settled, okay, so a simple letter needed to each of these to sort. Thanks Fermi, have copied yours from the sticky thread ready to send out.

The query I have is this one

Company Name : Max recovery
Account type : Credit card / Store card
Special Instruction Indicator : Partial Settlement
Special Intsruction Start Date : 01/02/2009
Started : 31/01/2002
Default Balance : £967
Current Balance : Satisfied
Defaulted on : 30/11/2006
File Updated for the Period to : 15/02/2009

I was made BR on 21/03/2007 and discharged 23/10/2007 so why has the special instruction been added two years later and what does it mean? Do I need to do anything with it, or is this okay and will drop off without problems based on the default date?

Thanks

I have no idea. Bumping for you. If in doubt, call the Experian helpline and ask them what it means (then tell us!)

I suspect that was when Max Recovery bought the debt.

They know as it was covered by the BR, that they had to mark it as a "partial settlement", so they would have marked it as such. Most of the time on Experian that shows up as a special instruction as shown.

The actual default date is before your BR, so that is good and doesn't need changing. The default and the whole account will drop of before the BR itself does.

So nothing to ask to be changed. Fine as it is. :)

Excellent, that is what I thought but I have learned that it is best to never assume anything. Thanks Fermi, you are a total star :T
